Hole-in-the-Rock Road & Landmark
Hole-in-the-Rock Road was originally created by Mormon settlers in 1879 as a route for southward travel which leads to Hole-in-the-Rock, an incredible rock feature on the western rim of Glen Canyon that boasts a hole carved out of the mountain that offers a view of Lake Powell. The whole length of the dirt road is roughly 55 miles long and is best suited for a side-by-side or other off-road vehicle. Along Hole-in-the-Rock Road are various Escalante icons to explore and discover including Devils Garden, Zebra Canyon, Peek-a-boo Canyon, Spooky Canyon, and other incredible slot canyons. The end of the 55-mile trek showcases the famous Hole-in-the-Rock which can be hiked down and descends down 300 feet to the water of Lake Powell.

Important Information:
- Pack plenty of water and food and be prepared for any unforeseen difficulty.
- Hole-in-the-Rock Road is not patrolled regularly and the conditions can be rugged and isolated.
- Be aware of flash flood warnings– do not risk entering this road or any slot canyons in rainy weather.
- There is limited cell service. Make sure somebody outside of your group knows where you are and can locate you if they need to!
- Pets are allowed on this scenic drive.
- There are no entrance fees to enjoy Hole-in-the-Rock Road.
