Utah Shakespeare Festival

The Utah Shakespeare Festival boasts three theaters located at Southern Utah University and sees over 100,000 patrons over the sixteen-week season from June-October. Founded in 1961, the vision for the theater was world-class performances uniquely set by the nearby national parks. It is one of the oldest and largest Shakespeare festivals in the United States and an iconic aspect of Cedar City and its academic charm– the festival received a prestigious Tony Award for America’s Outstanding Regional Theatre in 2000.

• The theaters are: The Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre, Randall L. Jones Theatre, and the Eileen and Allen Anes Studio Theatre.
• The Engelstad Shakespeare Theatre is a one-of-a-kind open air venue that mimics the Elizabethan theaters and is a homage to Shakespeare and his plays. You don’t want to miss this experience while visiting Cedar City!
• Children must be six years old or older to attend a performance. There is professional childcare available during performances for $10 per child. 
• There is free parking near all of the theaters and in designated SUU parking lots. 
• There are concession stands in the theater, but outside food and drinks are not permitted.
